How I Learned From College Writing II Than I Thought

I have definitely learned a lot more from College Writing II than I thought I would have. When this class started, I was not excited, because I have never liked writing, and felt that I was not very good at it. Now it’s coming to an end and fast. I always enjoyed coming to class because it went by quickly and was never dull. It started with free writes to help with our fluency, to class discussions, peer editing, and having Dr. White revise our essays. All these of have helped me with the writing process and becoming a better writer. I believe I have accomplished some of my best writing this semester. I would have never thought I could write a ten-page Multi-Modal Argumentative Synthesis Paper. I choose to reflect on this essay because†¦show more content†¦By having read and annotated some interesting articles I was able to choose one and leave the rest as sources, which I would then use in my final argumentative synthesis paper. Furthermore, from the free writes, I have learned that it is better to write anything then nothing at all because you cannot do anything with a blank page. I like having the liberty to start where I feel I know what I should write rather than struggling with coming up with things and being discouraged. Now, I usually start with a body paragraph if I have something I know I must absolutely write about. Then I can frame my introduction with my points, which makes it much easier. In addition, to teaching us the writing process, we also learned a few tricks on how to integrate quotes into our essays using the quotation sandwich and how to format block quotes as well. Love has always been a controversial issue throughout centuries. However, it was, and is, still one of the most popular topics in literature.One cannot help but be reminded of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet when that particular topic is brought up, which is one of the finest examples on this topic. Despite all the literary works written about love, love itself remains unexplained. The questions â€Å"why† and â€Å"when† is often asked –it can usually be answered vaguely or deeply, but sometimes it remains unanswered. Men and women around the world have been segregated for ages based on the lines of gender. Men involved in the pursuit of gender equality are regarded as people who are in the pursuit of gender mainstreaming. According to Jahan (1996), the idea of gender is something that is created by the individual mindset and prejudice. Such mentalities that discriminate based on sex are a result of the structure that has been incorporated in the culture from ages of prejudiced gender thoughts. The inequality that is prevalent in the sexes is a result of the various practices that are prevalent in the society from a long time. Men and women are equally in pursuit of a change that they want to bring in the society for a better future. The constant struggle to bring equality has to continue and both the sexes should together engage in this process. Public policies have the ability to either propagate or dispose of segregation and sex disparity. It is just by making sexual orientation a focal thought in the improvement and execution of open arrangement that sex balance and basic human rights for both the sexes can be achieved. The conclusion remains that issues of gender discrimination should be seen as a social issue rather as problems that are meant only for the given gender (Eerdewijk and Davids 2014).
